WORLD AIDS DAY 2010
We thank God for the living, pray to God for the dying and commend those who have died to God's eternal care. May those who put dogma before compassion be thwarted and the actions of the righteous prevail.

ENOUGH ABOUT ME: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY:
First thing at work tonight, I found out that, as of midnight, the company we work for is officially done.
Gerry has lost everything. I'm really worried about him. Our personnel director and our general manager are both here and frequently crying. The entire place has the feel of a house in mourning. It is, because we've been family for a long time. I'm numb, and kind of wish God would just, finally and at last, let. me. go. I'm sure Gerry is feeling even worse; there's no fall like that of a wealthy businessman in a Southern town.
The worst part - the digital music in the lobby is assaulting us with a perpetual mixture of cheerful, then sentimental Christmas muzak. Nothing like seeing the end of the company you love and the fear and grieving of friends while hearing ". . the plans that we made! Walking in a Winter Wonderland!"
UPDATE: Just finished the last audit for the Merry Acres Company.
Who knows what tomorrow brings. It seems that we have our jobs at current rate of pay, for now, but no one is sure what the bank or it's yet-to-contact-us management company are going to do.
I'm really scared.
AN UNNECESSARY APOLOGY
(See MADPRIEST'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY)
Mark has lived with depression and huge financial worries for some years. This must not be one problem too many.

So, yes...I'm sick. Stupid cold and stupid sinus and icky. meh. In five years it may not matter, but it's hard to convince me of that today.
Prayers are requested for Jenny, 35-year-old daughter of a close friend, Mike, who has cervical cancer. Surgery is scheduled for Dec. 14th.

Prop8 back in court next week. The appeal will be heard next Monday by three judges of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal.
Some good news from ALISON:
Say what you will about Facebook, but after losing track of him for over 30 years I reconnected with Alan, my high school sweetheart, and we are to be married in January. We are both 64.
So the chances are that he does "still love you," Alison :-)
